Out of all the data backup medium available now a days, SSD drives are one of the most reliable one for average consumers like me. However, compared to the M.2 slot based SSD drives, traditional 2.5 inch SATA SSD drives seems lot more cheaper even though they lack super fast read and write speed that M.2 based SSD offers. They also run much cooler and since they have metal enclosure, it is much safer to store them for long term data archiving medium.
For the past decade or so, I am using SATA SSD drives for storing files that I use quite often. On my computer, the boot drive is always an M.2 based SSD drive but for documents and files, I always use SATA SSD.

Back in 2021, I purchased this drive with an intention to backup my important personal files along with some of the music albums that I ripped from my audio CD collection. However, after archiving some albums, I realized perhaps 2TB is not sufficient enough. So, I stopped archiving music albums altogether. From then on, I backed up only documents on this drive. After using it for few years now, I ran a performance test sometime back and this is what I got.

Although I ran this test after using it for around five years at a row, I expected a bit better score across the board. Specially the write speed made me think, perhaps the drive didn't perform good enough because my drive is almost full and I barely have any empty space left over. If ever get a chance to move some of the files from this drive and re-run the test, I will definitely update this post.
As far as SSD drives are concerned, Samsung makes some of the best consumer grade drives. At least that's what I understood over the years. Despite having lower score with this drive, I have zero complain about it. I would still encourage anyone to try out their drives as well without any hesitation.
