In the year 2010, the author relocated his family to Utah, following a job offer he had eagerly accepted after completing his bachelor's degree in Accounting at Brigham Young University Idaho. Not long after settling into their new neighborhood, an unexpected opportunity came knocking the chance to embark on a thrilling journey as the Scoutmaster for the local troop. Having been a Den Leader, Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, and Varsity Coach in prior units in Idaho, he accepted without any worries well, except one. He had no idea where to take these scouts camping or hiking as he was not familiar with the area. Thus, the creation of ScouterLife began. ScouterLife was first created for his own personal journal of trails, campsites, and ideas for program help.

He soon realized that he was not the only one in the area who needed help finding locations to camp and hike. He also realized that others could probably benefit from some of his notes with ranks and merit badge items.

ScouterLife is a collection of his life in scouting. He believes that scouting is an inspired program that helps boys become young men and eventually turns young men into great men and future leaders. And, with the announcement from the BSA in 2017, young women have the same opportunity as boys. His daughter is extremely excited about this. With such a large array of different badges and ranks to earn, it fine-tunes the scout into what she or he eventually would like to become as they approach adulthood.
