Salted Plains

Tessa is the founder and creator of Salted Plains. She lives with her husband in her hometown of Kansas City, Missouri. In 2014, she founded Salted Plains as she began her journey into the world of gluten-free living. Gluten-free cooking and baking can be overwhelming at first, and sharing recipes that are approachable and delicious has been her mission from the start.

Diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis and experiencing severe migraines for two decades, she wanted to take more control of her health. Taking gluten out of her diet was a game-changer. Shortly after, she eliminated dairy from her diet as well with positive results. In addition, her Stocking a Gluten-Free Dairy-Free Pantry Guide provides a detailed look at gluten-free food staples. Plus, it comes with a printable pantry shopping list.

Every gluten-free recipe on Salted Plains is tested and contains detailed step-by-step instructions, photos, and videos to ensure you have success in your kitchen. The recipes are based on seasonal fruits and vegetables and utilize alternative flours, non-dairy options, and organic and natural sweeteners free of refined sugar.

Furthermore, she received her Bachelor of Music in Music Industries Studies from Loyola University New Orleans, and her Masters in Counseling Psychology from Fordham University in NYC. Having worked as a school counselor and swim coach for 15 years, she is now working on the blog full-time. She hopes that the recipes here on Salted Plains help bring about options and joy for those who need them.
