Away from the Box

Sarah is the recipe developer, food photographer, and writer behind this food blog. They are a non-binary, neurodivergent foodie. Here visitors will find recipes that celebrate the joy of eating and are suited for entertaining, whether their event is a date night, dinner party, or a big shindig.

While this is not a healthy food blog, Sarah doesn’t want their friends with dietary needs to go hungry, so they include vegetarian and vegan dishes for party spreads too.

Therefore, when Sarah started living on their own in 2010, hungry, and unable to bake more than used to watch tv series. These set out to learn how to cook.

A person with a shaved head wearing a black shirt is crossing their arms and looking into the camera. They pored through cookbooks and online recipes, experimenting and improving, and by 2012 their apartment became known as the party place – a place to eat, drink, sing, and be merry.

Then, in 2015, Sarah joined a cookbook swap group where they cooked from books and shared their photos online. Members of the group were impressed with their photography and encouraged them to start a blog.
