That Vegan Nephew

Cameron introduces himself as the creator of this blog. He’s an introverted piano player from the Pacific Northwest, and he likes to express his creativity in the kitchen as much as at the keyboard.

He started the vegan thing in late 2016 and was encouraged to try it at the behest of a close friend. Even after having been vegetarian for several years, he had doubts about whether or not he could sustain a plant-based diet. However, he didn’t find it as difficult as he had imagined it to be. He thought that most of the food would be bland and cardboard, or like something you’d feed to a rabbit.

But that’s not vegan food at all.

What he discovered was the opposite of all that. He discovered that plant-based food could be incredibly creative and exceptionally fun to make, as well as chock-full of dynamic flavors, textures, and sensations. Sometimes it can be healthy, but it can also be indulgent. Sometimes it can be light and airy, and sometimes it can be heavy and hearty.

When he started cooking plant-based food, he began to enjoy preparing his food quite a bit more than he ever had before. It was no longer a chore but an exploration into uncharted territory. He’s since found out that carrots could be bacon, chickpeas could be tuna fish, jackfruit could be shredded meat, and hearts of palm could be a delicious filet for a fish taco.

He thoroughly enjoyed making plant-based food so much that eventually he wanted to share it with more people. And so, at the end of 2019, he began this website with the sole purpose of communicating delicious, plant-based recipes with a wider audience, in the hopes that more people would be able to discover the variety and vivaciousness of vegan cuisine as he did. .

Cameron’s mantra about food is this: He believes that everyone deserves good food and good company, and it’s one of his passions in life to create recipes that reflect this gastronomic philosophy.

They need to eat food to live, and they need connections with others to feel alive, so why not combine them? It’s through collaboration, cooperation, and inclusion that we humans thrive and progress, as well as make true positive change in the world. It only makes sense that food can be the first step in that direction since it’s something we have to think about, consider, and create every day.

He aims to publish recipes that everyone can make for or share easily recipes that are not only delicious but also wholesome and more conscientious of the world around us and the other beings who coexist on this planet alongside us.

Whoever you are, Cameron believes that if you have an open-minded approach to what food can be, as well as the determination to explore it, then you can make and enjoy plant-based food without too much hassle, inconvenience, or expense, and have a good time with others while eating, sharing, or creating it.

Let’s contribute together to a world full of more camaraderie over good food that is gastronomically equivalent to a hearty belly laugh: nourishing, replenishing, and much needed.
