Apple iPhone Upgrade Thoughts

Back in 2022, I purchased my Apple iPhone 12 mini which I am still using and quite frankly, I don't see the need of upgrading my phone anytime soon. The phone is performing quite well and based on Apple provided recommendation, the battery health is still good enough to keep it using. I do not spend couple of hours in-front of my daily basis anyway. So, I can expect my phone to continue to work for a year or so more before I must change my battery or to upgrade my phone altogether.

Now, if everything goes according to the plan, we can expect the announcement of a new iPhone from Apple, soon enough. It is early morning of September 9th over here in Bangladesh. The Pacific time zone is thirteen hours behind from the Dhaka time zone where I am staying right now. So, I would have to wait a bit longer to see the live event even though I am not all that hyped up about it.

For the last couple of months, I was going through some of the tech related sites on regular basis to get an overall understanding of about the upcoming iPhone 17. The leaked photos and dummy phones of the possible models and their design gave me some ideas and the information I gathered so far does not sound all that promising to me. I consider myself to be below average iPhone enthusiast and I am quite happy with pretty much any iPhone that can perform without any major hiccups after the major iOS update.

I see individuals and tech sites are expressing their expectations and thoughts about Apple's new iPhone. As a simple consumer, I expect a low end iPhone with a good battery life that can be used at least four to five years and I would be more than happy with such iPhone. So far, I think iPhone 16e seems to be the only phone that comes very close to something that I may be interested at once or if the price goes down after the release of the new iPhone.

No, I don't need any super camera, no higher refresh rate display, not even the wireless charging capability. All I need is a phone that works with good battery life with average type display and built-in Wi-Fi capability that will allow me to check my mails and messages and I am good to go. Having a smaller frame like mini type phone would be highly appreciated if possible. Last but not least perhaps most importantly it must be below 500 bucks. If that is something Apple can offer, I am all for it. Otherwise, adios amigos.

Update (September 15): Apple already announced their iPhone 17 product line but the price for 16e did not go down as I expected. Seems like I would have to wait much longer to grab my next iPhone.
