Evening Coffee Run

I woke up pretty late today. Last night I spent a big chunk of my time reading lots of news articles, watching some videos online. I also wrote a pretty long blog post on newly imposed tariff on number of countries by the Trump administration and how it will affect my native Bangladesh. The blog post was published on a community blogging platform where most of the bloggers and readers are mostly of Bengali origin.

I started blogging back in 2006 in my native Bengali language on that community blog site. So, I am quite a senior member there I suppose. Although I am not as regular as I used to be in the past but I try to post something pretty much every month on that platform.

After publishing my post, I got number of comments and I responded back to them as much I could to the best of my knowledge. I am no expert on this field but I tried. Quite understandably, Bangladeshi people and their administration is quite anxious about the whole issue. Bangladesh exports mostly ready made garments products to the US. Imposing 37% tariff is quite a big deal for them specially when their currency is much weaker against US dollar. The entire nation is bracing for an impact. Their entire economy somewhat depends on their RMG sector. So, I think I understand their anxiety very well. You can read more about their textile industry from Wikipedia.

In any case, after waking up I took shower and felt very hungry. I think you can understand that I didn't had my breakfast and lunch. I finished my prayer and stepped outside to grab something to eat. The weather was a bit chilly but it was good enough for me to take a walk around few blocks and I immediately felt much better. However, I totally forgot that the local bakery shop where I generally get my coffee from will be closed soon.

I ran towards the coffee shop only to see that the owner couple are about to leave. I smiled at them and asked like a stupid guy if I can get a large coffee. The responded yes and the lady was kind enough to go inside the store and turn on the lights again and prepare a coffee for me. I thanked her couple of times and left saying good night to them.

As I am sipping away the very coffee right now and writing this post, I am asking myself, what I would have done if the roles were reversed? I could not find any comfortable answer from myself to be fair. Then again, I understand that I am their regular long term customer and they definitely did not want to upset me. I felt a bit honored regardless and I am super grateful for their gesture.
