Getting Silicone Dust Covers

Just like any other family, I got number of electronic devices at home. If you ever pay close attention to those devices, you will notice that majority of them has wide range of ports for various reasons. If you are using all those ports, most probably you are fine but I doubt anyone would use all of the ports that any given device offers. I mean it's possible but highly unlikely and definitely not everyone is being that much efficient. Although those ports collects dusts over times, generally it's not harmful for any device. However, in the long run it could be problematic and it can even cause issues with your devices.

Over the weekend, I decided to clean my mini Hi-Fi stereo. Since, I don't use my stereo everyday, I thought of use my time and clean it anyway. I noticed how much dust it collected over the years. It has number of ports at the back and some of them are almost clogged with dust. While it didn't take long to clean my stereo, I decided to go ahead and get some silicone dust cover for those unused ports.

Suddenly, it came to my mind that I have much more ports at the back of my desktop computers, routers, mini pcs, GPUs. Since, my motherboard is fairly new, I am not worried all that much but I definitely didn't forget my router which has number of RJ45 port that are not being used. I have number of USB, HDMI, Display ports at the back of my PC that are not being used eiter.

Seems like I have to order number of different types of dust covers for various devices. This evening, I spent sometime and roughly estimated the number of port and types that I need to get the dust covers for.

I am not paranoid about this but I am trying to protect my belongings, so that I can enjoy them little longer and avoid paying for something new, that's all.
