Majority of the countries around world already welcomed the new year with celebration. However, those of us who are living in the North American region, we are still waiting for that glorious moment. Just like any other past new year's eve, I am sitting at home in front of my computer, sipping coffee and watching the live broadcast from Times Square over YouTube. It's fun.
At this moment of celebration, I can't but to look back at 2024 and think about lots of good memories. I spent a big chunk of my time this year overseas in my native Bangladesh and witnessed history in the making. The country went through a roller coaster ride this year. Thousands of students and their lives were sacrificed to defend their rights and the democracy through a bloody movement.
On a personal level, it was a memorable year for me as much as it was painful one. It boggles my mind just to think that quarter of this century is almost over and I witnessed it all just like many others.
Wars are raging on several fronts for last couple of years and I don't see it slowing down anytime soon. Natural disaster, major accidents and loss of lives are unexpected yet we saw it all this year. Sometimes, I feel totally confused and numb.
Not sure what's lying ahead for all of us but I sincerely pray and hope that may this new year bring peace, prosperity and happiness to all of our lives.
