Couple of years back when I had to go through a data disaster phase, I was in total panic mode. My experience was so bitter that I still did not forget those days. I have shared my tragic experience through a blog post. Back in those days NVME based SSD drives were quite expensive so I went ahead with an mSATA based drive to get some sort of reliable data backup medium.
However, I did not have any reliable enclosure to use that brand new mSATA drive. After spending few minutes online, I found Nekteck mSATA enclosure. It looked pretty good and had fairly good reviews. I did not wait for long. I ordered that aluminum enclosure right away and I got it in my hand within couple of days.

At only 3.31 inch in length, 1.54 inch in height and 0.35 inch in depth, this enclosure seemed small enough for me to carry around. Since typical M.2 based SSD drives (2280mm) were much longer, this enclosure was the perfect choice. Back at that time 2230mm or 1.18 inch M.2 SSD drives were not all that common, specially for retail customers like me.
This enclosure came with an small screw driver and a USB-C to USB-A cable which allowed me to use this enclosure with pretty much all of my computers including my laptop. The cable was not that long though. Back in those days, my PC didn't had any USB-C port port, so this cable was much more useful for me than having USB-C to USB-C cable.
The aluminum case had very smooth finish at the surface level which felt very comfortable while holding it. It is sturdy enough to survive multiple drops but luckily it did not get any scratch mark yet, so that is a big plus for me. Changing or replacing the SSD drive was fairly easy and did not take that much effort. However, I do not and did not change the SSD drive quite often though.
Overall, I was and still am quite happy with my purchase. Unfortunately, the company stopped manufacturing or selling this enclosure. At least it was not available on Amazon or any other major online marketplace at the time of writing this post for U.S. based customers. Well, that's a bummer but if you have any mSATA based SDD drive lying around and somehow you come across this enclosure, go for it. You won't regret buying it.
