Few years back, I decided to make some video tutorials for YouTube. Back at that time, I was kind of new to this field and I barely had any idea on how exactly I should be preparing myself. After spending few days reading some good articles on this issue and I was ready to make my first video in no time. Since most of my video required me to record the screen, I had no problem finding some useful software. However, problem arose with the sound recording issue.
Initially I thought of recording voice from iPhone but later on I changed my mind as that would require me to sync with the video from the editing software. Soon I abandoned the idea and decided to go with the clip-on microphone. Unfortunately though finding a good quality microphone that won't break your bank wasn't easy. After few days of my research, I decided to place an order for the Sony ECMCS3 Stereo Microphone. Soon after receiving the item I started testing out the mic on my computer eventually started making videos. You can check out the sound quality from this video.

Verdict: As I mentioned earlier, I was new to this sound recording and microphone issues. I am happy with pretty much anything as long as it can record audio and doesn't create too much of noise. As far as my recording experience with this mic is concern, I definitely won't say it doesn't record noise at all. It does but at the same time I can't entirely rule out the fact that it just could be my computer's fan that created the noise. The noise is negligible and it can be reduced significantly using the audio filter from your video editing software. Also please bare in mind that I didn't record my audio in any professional settings. Outdoor recording could be an entirely different issue.
I have seen a fair amount of video reviewing this mic without any major noise issue whatsoever. So, it's fair to say that it's a very fine mic at less than $20 price tag. Sure, you can find many other professional mic for studio level recording but this is definitely a great choice if your budget is like mine. A must try out clip-on microphone for any professional settings. I gave this item a solid 4 out of 5. I took out half point for the noise and half for the cable being a bit short for me.
