The Importance of VPN

As much as we love the internet, believe it or not, it is actually a very scary place to be in. Despite the fact that it made our life much more easier, faster and more efficient, it has the potential to cause havoc in our lives, if we are not careful enough. Browsing zillions of sites and signing up on various sites for different types of services can sometimes be fatal.

Sure, the internet itself can not harm us but we the human exploit it at certain extends that it is fair enough to call it an abuse. There are millions if not billions of people are out there who are victim of identity theft and online scam along with so many other different types crime. I am no exception here and I do not take these issues lightly and nor should you.

I don't want to be specific but certain regions and countries around the world already earned notoriety because of these issues. A research article was published in 2024 on this topic and I would highly encourage anyone to read it if you get sometime. Many countries introduced various laws to protect their citizens but I am not quite how much that affected this industry because criminals are being creative and coming up with newer methods to harm people.

Using VPN services while exploring the internet could be a great way to hide your identify. Although it does not guarantee absolute online security or privacy, it can help you to avoid certain headaches. Using it could also cause major or minor inconveniences at certain extend but it outweighs the benefit of using it. Believe it or not, using VPN actually cost me a six figure job but that did not and won't stop me from using it.

There are numbers of VPN service providers are out there and I would highly recommend you to do your own research to pick that you think is best fits your and bill and requirements. Also, just know that almost all modern router can help you to setup and use VPN services so that all the devices at your home can take advantage of it instead of installing app on individual devices.

On a personal level, I use Mikrotik branded router and I think they are a great brand. Their RouterOS is simply amazing It has zillions of customization options which is super useful to some. However, I understand that it may or may not be for everyone but thought of sharing my experiences on this regardless. I would always recommend anyone to use their routers at home or office if possible.

Regardless of the type of router you use, I would encourage everyone to use VPN whenever it is possible. Never save your password on browser just for your conveniences, do not use same password everywhere and definitely clear your browser cache on regular basis. Stay safe and be alert, happy browsing.
