I came across this movie online couple of hours back. I was so intrigued by the short video that I decided to watch it right away just in case if I forget to watch it later on. It is been quite sometime since I watched a movie that I really liked. Simply judging by the short clip, I felt this could be one of those movies.
This film was released back in 2014 and it is a British crime drama film. So, please just have this piece of information at the back of your head before I dive into it. All the actors on this movie are new to me. None of their names or faces seemed known to me. As I started watching the movie, I was keep trying to remember, if I have seen any one of them on any other movies. Nope, that didn't ring any bell. However, I felt like I may have seen James Cosmo in the past but I couldn't simply remember the name of the movie.
Plot: A old-time gangster Charlie Archer (Steven Berkoff) gets killed by local street gang members called E2 as he was trying to protect Lauren Taylor (Dani Dyer) from being assaulted by them. His brother Ritchie Archer gets the information and returns to London from Spain to investigate the death of his brother.
Ritchie meets some of his old associates who still lives in London but keeps low profile. The old-time gang members pays their respect to Charlie and gets into their own business. Police are slow on the investigation and Ritchie don't wait for them to find out the killers. Ritchie gets to know that the E2 gang members are behind the death of his brothers. The old-timers abducts some of the E2 gang members, torture them to collect information about the E2 gang leader.
Aaron (Danny Hatchard) the E2 gang leader become suspicious once his associates are keep going missing one by one. He figures out it is the old gang members who are behind all these. Ritchie suffers heart attack and gets admitted to the hospital. Aaron decides to take out Ritchie at the hospital but gets ambushed by the associates of Ritchie. As Aaron's associates are getting killed, he threatens to kill Lauren. Ritchie surrenders but soon police arrives at the hospital and kills Aaron.
Since the revenge has been taken, Ritchie decides to go back to Spain, and his associates arrive at a private airport to say goodbye to him, only to find out Ritchie did not leave. The movie ends here.
Verdict: I finished watching the entire movie in a single sitting without taking any break. This movie portrays the difference between the old time gangsters and the young punks really well. The gentlemen-ship among the old gang members and the ruthlessness is something particularly stands out throughout this movie.
The punks and their immature behavior can be associated with pretty much any modern city based thugs who think they are someone. Be it in Nevada or New York, I am pretty sure you can find the similarities among these punks if you are old enough like me. If you ever wished to see these punks getting hammered, just watch the movie. Apart from that nothing much to expect from here.
