Couple of days back when I finished ordering all the new parts for my new computer build, I wrote a post sharing the list of the parts that's going to be on my computer. Exactly ten days later, I received all the parts within a big brown box from Amazon today.
As soon as I got the delivery notification, I literally ran towards the door to pick it up. I opened up the box and saw all the items there as I ordered. It didn't take me long to put together all the items. However, since I didn't order any new case, I had take out all the old parts and clean the case a bit before I place the new board. Plugged all the cables and fired it up right away. It worked at first shot but took a little while before the boot screen showed up.
I made minor changes on the BIOS and then installed the Windows without any issue. After visiting the ASRock products page, I saw newer version of the BIOS which I updated right away. I think that BIOS updates included support for the Intel 14th Gen CPUs which I thought is a bit important just in case if I want to upgrade my CPU at some point down the line.
From my previous experience with Intel i7-12700 CPU what I learned is that particular CPU runs very hot. So, low profile cooler was definitely not an option for me. I don't like large coolers either. Since I was sticking with the "T" variant of the CPU, low profile cooler from Noctua worked just fine.
I removed the traditional latch that you see on any Intel supported motherboard and placed the Thermal Grizzly frame which worked just as expected. I was a bit disappointed that the frame was made out of plastic instead of aluminum. What a shame!
