Connie is the author of this blog where she shares gluten-free, simple, and easy recipes that add flavor to life. Spend a little time, and explore, and her readers may find some flavor to add to their lives, too. She’s as well as a writer, baker, cook, and photographer on her blog. She shares sweet and savory gluten-free recipes adding flavor to life. She's a morning person during the week and an evening person on the weekends. She loves playing tennis but doesn't get to play as often as she'd like. Fall Saturdays find her enjoying college football with Jim. When she's not in the kitchen, Jim and she enjoy walking on the river trail near their home.

She lives with Celiac disease. She knows first-hand what it's like to miss enjoying bread, cookies, desserts, pastas, soups, and everything else in between. These are all foods off-limits to her because they contain gluten.

Her first exposure to Celiac disease came when her dad was diagnosed with the illness over 20 years ago. It took his doctors several years to determine whether an auto-immune disease was the cause of his digestive issues.

Knowing that Celiac disease is a genetic disorder, she was able to self-diagnose her gluten-intolerance symptoms (abdominal pain and bloating) a decade later. She eliminated gluten from her diet and was rewarded with relief from her symptoms. It wasn't easy to switch to a gluten-free diet, but living without the pain and digestive issues has improved her quality of life.

It took a few years to get an official diagnosis of Celiac disease from her doctor. It's fairly easy to diagnose the disease if you're still consuming gluten, but she wasn't willing to start eating gluten again to confirm what she already knew. Eventually, an endoscopy combined with a blood test gave her the official diagnosis.

When she started her gluten-free journey in 2008, she thought her days of enjoying her favorite foods were over. Back then there weren't many gluten-free flour options available. She's happy to say times have changed.

She created Flavor Walk as a way to archive and share favorite recipes with family and friends. She's a self-taught baker who enjoys adapting standard recipes into gluten-free versions.
